This project was conducted to help vulnerable families in Barton Hill who needed immediate support, struggling during the Covid-19 pandemic with financial hardships.
Nestled in ‘Cafe Conscious’ with the owner’s help, Denise, we distributed fresh, healthy and hot meals to feed over 100 each week.

Many parents were in precarious forms of employment, on zero hour contracts etc., which means, given the lockdown status, their income was very limited.
Many out of work for months, with little support and limited access to services.
We came together collectively to feed our community.

Running on the kindness of donations, support, sharing, and all the amazing volunteers, we managed to reach beyond, getting referrals from Kingswood, St Paul’s and Brentry… and recognition from the city leaders- we were awarded the Lord Mayor’s Medal 2021.

Samira from BHAC says “The ladies I set this up with, have a heart of gold and care so much for the community they serve. We had so much laughter to a point we felt like we knew each other for years. We distributed meals that included vegan, halal and vegetarian so everyone felt like they were included. The feedback was amazing.”

As the situation progressed to Tier 3, in preparation for our vulnerable people needing even more support, we set up a Go Fund Me page for the Sunday Kitchen…

We had many volunteers support us by cooking and donating including our local mums and…
